A Wee Little Bit of Faith

Luke 17:6 "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.”

I do often wonder sometimes who came up with the idea of pulling someone’s chair out from underneath them as they sat down.  I have a girl in the youth who attempts to do it to me a lot.  For those it happens to it’s not funny, but for those who get to watch, it’s hard not to laugh.  The reason why it’s so funny is because we all have so much trust that the chair is going to be there and not give out that we just plop down without even looking or paying attention.  When someone plops down but realizes the chair isn’t there, they get this really funny look of surprise on their face, especially when they try to catch themselves from falling and figure out they can’t.  Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could have as much faith in God as we do the dumb chair we sit in?  After we get our chair pulled out from underneath us, we’re hesitant at first but it doesn’t take long before we’re plopping down in it again, having no doubt it will be there.  Jesus said if we would only have faith the size of a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed, we could tell a mountain to move and it would.  That’s crazy!  Can you imagine looking at a mountain so vast and saying, “Hey, can you move ten feet to the right?”  I don’t know about you, but if that mountain moved I would be freaking out.  We have to learn that God has our back, He won’t pull our chair out from underneath us.  We just need to trust He will always be there and plop back in His grace-filled arms.  God can do extravagant things through us if only we allow ourselves to have faith in the smallest of portions.  How about we go move some mountains today?

Matthew 21:21 "If you have faith and don't doubt, I promise that you can do what I did to this tree. And you will be able to do even more. You can tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it will.”
