Sense of Humor

1 John 3:20 “Whenever our hearts in [tormenting] self-accusation make us feel guilty and condemn us. For we are in God's hands.  For He is above and greater than our consciences (our hearts), and He knows (perceives and understands) everything [nothing is hidden from Him].”

I believe God has a sense of humor.  We have a sense of humor and since we were made in his likeness, I believe He has to have one too.  Earlier today I saw on the internet a picture of the giant statue of Jesus in Rio.  Hanging off of one of the hands was a parachuter who had gotten caught while falling to his death.  You can’t help but laugh when you see the picture because of the sheer irony of it all.  God can even use a comical way to remind us that He is always holding us in His hands.  He’s got us and won’t let us fall.  A lot of times, my mom will put funny pictures or comics up on our refrigerator.  They’re always Christian based and usually make us laugh about the contradictions we make as humans in our faith.  They may make you laugh but they also make you think about how you are in those specific situations.  For example, there was a cartoon that joked about a man making a deal with God about staying home for football instead of going to church.  It makes you think of what you’re willing to put above your time with God while still allowing you to smile about how silly we can be.  Just know God doesn’t sit up there with His arms crossed and a serious face, He’s loving and smiles at our laughter.

Job 8:21 “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting.”
