One Team or the Other

1 Corinthians 12:12 “You can easily enough see how this kind of thing works by looking no further than your own body. Your body has many parts—limbs, organs, cells—but no matter how many parts you can name, you're still one body. It's exactly the same with Christ.”

When I was younger, I used to love sitting with my friends at random high school sports games.  I was home schooled, so I usually didn’t have one preference or the other on the teams that were playing.  I would just choose the team that I thought deserved cheering on.  I got into the habit of choosing the team that was the underdog which usually meant they were the away team.  Most of the time, this meant I was cheering for the team that was opposite of the one my friends were cheering for.  Have you ever tried to sit in a group of people and be the only one cheering for a certain team?  I would never try that with pro soccer or football team fans, I may lose a couple of limbs.  Even in high school sports it was rough to be the only one sticking it out by myself.  As Christians, we’re a team, a group and we need to stick together and support each other.  If you wouldn’t want to be stuck alone getting your limbs ripped off in a crowd, you shouldn’t leave your fellow believers to do the same.  Even if you’re not a fan but one of the players, without the rest of your team, you have no hope of winning any game by yourself.  As Christians, we can’t let each other drift off alone.  Help keep each others fire bright.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 "If somebody could overpower one alone, two together could make a stand against him. And a threefold cord cannot quickly be torn in two."
