The Blame Game

Hosea 4:4 “But don't look for someone to blame. No finger pointing!”
I love how youth react to the Adam and Eve story.  The guys like to say that it was all the woman’s fault for bringing sin into the world.  The girls like to say that the guy was a pansy and ate the fruit as well so it was just as much his fault.  If you didn’t stop them, the blame circle could continue forever.  It makes me laugh because the blame game is still happening.  When God questioned Adam about eating the fruit, he automatically passed the blame off to Eve.  Eve, when blamed, passed it off to the snake.  We still do that today.  We can’t take responsibility for our own actions.  We try to find a scapegoat that will take the fall for us.  If we can turn the attention away from ourselves, maybe we can get out of what it was we did or didn’t do.  That’s being manipulative.  Kids try this from an early age.  You get onto them for something and they’ll say, “Well, she said…”  We know how silly that is when they say that but as adults we’re just as bad.  Let’s stop playing the blame game like children and be mature adults in dealing with our actions.
Psalm 15:3 “Don't hurt your friend, don't blame your neighbor; despise the despicable.”
