Food Contest

Psalm 62:1 “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.”

I love those days where you feel accomplished.  You work hard all day and then when night rolls around you sit down with a sigh thinking to yourself how good it feels to have gotten so much done.  Then you have those days where you worked really hard and it seems you got absolutely nothing done.  Those are the days that feel like an eating contest.  You’re woofing down as much as you can and you think you’ve tackled a lot until you look down and realize you’ve barely made it through a fifth of what you had.  It’s hard to get motivated after that.  I don’t know about you but that’s the point during the day where I sit down and just stare at what needs to be done, too overwhelmed to even try doing anymore.  Those are the moments when it’s time to just let God fill you up.  Doesn’t need to take a long time, just stop thinking about what needs to be done, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and ask God for peace.  There’s nothing wrong with taking time during your busy day to take a God-breather.  Some days if you try to push through while already feeling overwhelmed, you take it out on the people around you, mainly your family.  Worth it?  I would say not!  God has blessed us with minds to be able to think things through.  So, we need to know ourselves and our limits and not push ourselves to past them.  God will never give us anything we can’t handle but sometimes we fill our own plates and that’s when the food contest of life becomes too overwhelming.

1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.  And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.”
